Reservations Manager - Sunlover Reef Cruises

Ocean Hotels & Tourism is the largest Australian owned operator of award winning tourism businesses from Cape Tribulation to the Airlie Beach.
Sunlover Reef Cruises operates daily from Cairns to the Great Barrier Reef, travelling via Fitzroy Island to the Moore Reef pontoon.
We are looking for a sensational, vibrant person to join the “new look” Sunlover Reef Cruises and lead the busy Reservations team. The successful applicant will be passionate about their work and have a positive attitude, someone who really wants to make a difference by delivering above standard service with a smile! Extensive experience in the tourism industry is an absolute necessity, particularly in a similar capacity with a reef tourism or local tour business.
The role of the Reservations Manager includes supervising and managing a small team of reservationists, liaising with local clients and agents to ensure 100% guest satisfaction, and assisting the Operations Manager to maximise yield and ensure a consistently smooth operation. This is a very ‘hands-on’ role where you will lead by example, assisting to take phone calls and email enquiries from customers, making bookings for our various products and assisting with daily check in our passengers.
This exciting role is also an integral part of our Head Office team based in Cairns. You will also liaise with the Group Sales and Marketing Manager and work together to promote our exciting new products and specials. You will also have a strong working relationship with our Group Financial Controller and finance team
Exceptional communication and organisational skills are required for this role, along with efficient time management skills. Experience with Respax will be considered an advantage.

This is a full time salaried position, commencing immediately on a short term contract of 3 – 6 months which may become permanent. You will be required to work 5 days on and two days off, or a similar combination over a 7 day roster. Some flexibility will be required to work weekends or late/early shifts.

Operations Manager
We require the services of an experienced Operations Manager to support our General Manager at Long Island Resort.
This is a ‘hands-on’, full time salaried position at a senior management level. The successful applicant will have extensive 4 star rated or higher hotel/resort experience across all areas of front and back of house roles, along with qualifications or equivalent experience in Hospitality Management and Financial Management.
If you enjoy working with people, leading a team and can solve any problem quickly and effectively, this is the role for you! You will be required to live on site at Long Island Resort and be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining our assets and assisting to protect their overall value. This full time salaried role is a live-in role, available for immediate start. Minimum 12 month commitment required.
The successful candidate will be required to assist guests to enjoy their experience by maintaining Long Island Resort and presenting a good quality product. Overseeing the maintenance team and gardening staff, you will provide support for the Resort General Manager by supplying advice and providing practical corrective maintenance actions.
Proven experience in a similar role is essential. Trade qualifications preferred, along with staff management and leaderships skills, and financial management skills to ensure expenditure is controlled within budget requirements.
Working knowledge and experience with water & sewerage treatment plants, backup power supply, waste disposal, fire systems, WH&S practices and other legislative compliance accreditation and permits, will be highly regarded along with preventative maintenance program management and cyclone & evacuation procedures.
Sales and Marketing Business Development Executive - Whitsunday Region
We are seeking a self-motivated, positive individual to join our sales team in the position of Business Development Executive. You will be based in Airlie Beach and focus on the Whitsundays local and 5 hour drive markets. To be successful in this role you will possess

This is very much a hands-on role building relationships with local businesses, travel agents and self-drive markets.
You will report to the General Manager of Long Island Resort & Club Crocodile Airlie Beach, with input from the Group Sales & Marketing Manager. This role will involve working autonomously at times, however you will also need to able to work as part of our team, taking direction on group marketing initiatives, targeting room night generation for the Ocean Hotels Group, and participation in team meetings delivering feedback and weekly reports.
The successful applicant will have experience in a similar role with excellent time management, interpersonal and negotiation skills. This is a rewarding salaried position with varied shifts including some weekend work.
Resort Retail Store
Long Island Resort has a Resort Store located in the reception lobby area.
It is more than just a retail store with merchandise and souvenirs; we stock a selection of convenience groceries, make excellent espresso coffee and provide tour booking service and advice.
We are looking for an experienced retail attendant to run the Resort Store as if it was their own. This permanent part time role and would suit either a live-on island or commute arrangement.
Kids Club and Resort Activities Co-ordinator
Do you like to supervise and teach children aged 4 to 14? We need a passionate, mature and responsible person who currently holds a Working with Children Blue card to work on a full time basis at Long Island Resort. This is a live on role, conducting and co-ordinating child friendly activities such as treasure hunts and craft sessions during the day along with evening Resort activities such as hosting Bingo, Trivia and Karaoke! Other Resort Activities include daily Fish Feeding, Lorikeet feeding at Sunset by the beach and guided bush walking tours. If you are an outgoing person who is confident in public speaking we would like to hear from you.
Kitchen Steward
Wash the dishes, dry the dishes, turn the dishes over. Multiple roles available for people who love to clean!
This is a hands-on role, for someone with experience in hotels or resorts, or multi outlet venues such as large pubs or clubs.
This role includes washing dishes after breakfast, lunch and dinner service, along with assisting the chefs to prepare the restaurant buffet for service.
You may also be required to assist with the food preparation and buffet service for weddings and other special events.
You will be responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and tidy at all times and follow company procedures for the proper handling of kitchen waste on the island.
Knowledge of handling cleaning chemicals and safe workplace practices is essential.
This is a physically demanding role, a high level of fitness would be advantageous.
Sunlover Reef Cruises
Sunlover Reef Cruises travels daily from Cairns to Fitzroy Island and Moore Reef.
This is a complete Reef Tourism experience, with an award winning team providing Glass Bottom and Semi-Submersible Boat tours, Guided Snorkeling Interpretive Tours, Introductory and Certified Scuba Diving, Seawalker Helmet Diving and Helicopter Reef Scenic flights.
Reservations Clerk
The role of a Reservationist at Sunlover Reef Cruises includes taking phone calls and email enquiries from customers, making bookings, and assisting with daily check in of customers travelling to both Fitzroy Island and Moore Reef.
You will require excellent product knowledge to liaise with local, domestic and international clients and agents to ensure 100% guest satisfaction, and be responsible for assisting the Reservations Manager to maximise yield and ensure a consistently smooth operation.
Thorough knowledge of reef tourism operations is essential, and experience with Respax will be considered an advantage. Excellent communication and administration skills are required, along with efficient time management skills.
This is a permanent casual position with flexible hours available over a 7 day roster from 6:30am to 9pm. If you can turn a reef trip into the dream experience our guests will never forget, this is the role for you.
