Sunlover Reef Cruises

Sunlover Reef Cruises travels daily from Cairns to Moore Reef, via Fitzroy Island on the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

This is a complete Reef Tourism experience, with an award winning team providing Glass Bottom and Semi-Submersible Boat tours, Guided Snorkeling Interpretive Tours, Introductory and Certified Scuba Diving, Seawalker Helmet Diving and Helicopter Reef Scenic flights.

 

Deckhand

We are seeking a reliable, highly motivated and duly certified Coxswain to join our team.
This is a casual role with a view to becoming Permanent with roster cycle of approximately 9 hours per day, 4 days on, 2 days off.
Sunlover Reef Cruises departs at daily at 9:30am and returns to Cairns each day at approximately 5:30pm.
This role includes working under the direction of the Captain of the Vessel, along with the First Mate and other deckhands. You will report to the Operations Manager.
You will also be required to work on our smaller tenders whilst at our pontoon at Moore Reef.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations – Coxswain),
• Proven experience successfully working in a team environment
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required, particularly confident public speaking and multi-cultural awareness.

Preferred Requirements

• Marine Radio Operators and First Aid Certificates
• Boat handling and rope tying experience
• Experience within a similar role in the tourism industry in the Great Barrier Reef region.

 

Dive Instructor - PADI

We require a casual Dive Instructor to join our Aquatic Team at Sunlover Reef Cruises, preferably with Chinese speaking language skills.

Sunlover Reef Cruises Dive Instructors are required to have current

• PADI membership
• Public Liability Insurance
• Oxygen Resuscitation & Senior First Aid Certificates
• Dive Medical Certificate
• Marine Radio Operators Certificate would be considered an advantage

Front Desk Receptionist

Hides Hotel Cairns has a vacancy for a Part Time Front Desk Receptionist.
This is a senior role suitable for a committed, honest and reliable candidate with minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a large hotel or resort.

The role of the Front Desk Receptionist is more than just answering phone calls and taking messages.
This position requires someone with the ability to

• work with a small team, and liaise closely with the housekeeping and maintenance departments,
• deal directly with guests from various cultures,
• process check-in and check-out of rooms accurately and efficiently,
• take reservations enquiries and covert to sales,
• possess in depth local knowledge and understanding of popular attractions and places of interest to assist with tour bookings and enquiries, 
• process the end of day reconciliations and reports,
• ensure records are maintained in line with our company procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Exceptional communication and organisational skills
• Efficient time management skills and the ability to multi task
• A high level of academic ability and intermediate computer skills
• Previous experience in dealing with unacceptable behaviour, dispute resolution and emergency procedures would be considered an advantage.
• Tertiary qualifications in Tourism or Hospitality are preferred, but not essential.

You will report directly to the Hotel Manager, and also have a strong working relationship with our Group Office team based in Cairns.

 

Housekeeping Attendant

A Part Time Public Area Cleaners is required for cleaning and maintaining the common areas of the Hotel.
We are looking for someone who loves to clean with attention to detail.
Experience preferred, but not essential. Duties include removal of rubbish, sweeping/mopping floors, general cleaning and some heavy lifting. A high level of physical fitness is recommended for this position.

Employees of Hides Hotel Cairns are employed under the terms and conditions of the Hospitality Industry General Award.
You will be required to work 2-4 days per week over a 7 day roster.
Some flexibility will be required to work weekends, late/early shifts and public/school holidays.

Housekeeping Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervision of staff and the effective rostering, training and mentoring of the housekeeping team.
• Monitoring staff wage costs and productivity according to occupancy
• Ordering of guest supplies and ensuring sufficient level of linen to guest rooms and other resort outlets.
• Ensuring appropriate Chemical Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards and practices are maintained
• Daily Room allocations and monitoring of cleanliness of rooms through regular inspections. Assisting to clean rooms as required.
• Ensure Public Areas Attendants maintain the highest standard of cleanliness in all front of house guest facilities.

Essential Skills

• Excellent time management and solid computer skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Previous experience in handling and safe storage of commercial cleaning chemicals
• Effective cost control measures and academic ability.
• Extensive experience in all aspects of remote resort housekeeping operations.
• A high level of fitness will be beneficial in this hands-on, physically demanding role.

 

Housekeeping Attendant

A Part Time Public Area Cleaners is required for either a live on island or commute position.
We are looking for someone who loves to clean with attention to detail.
Pool Cleaning duties are included in this role, experience preferred but not essential.

 

Chef de Partie, Commis Chef, Cook/Catering Assistant and Apprentice Chef

Trade qualifications preferred, experienced chef - one who love to create, not just cook!
Multiple positions are available at all levels of culinary experience.

Watersports Attendant – (Coxswain)

Do you get a kick out of putting a smile on peoples’ faces? If you know how to operate a jet ski, and give our guests a thrill of a lifetime, this is your opportunity.
You will be required to provide thorough safety briefing and direct guests when hiring or riding our jet skis.
The Watersports attendant also provides customer service and assistance with kayak hire, fishing and snorkeling gear.

 

Most roles are Part Time positions up to 40 hours per week, with immediate start.
Employees are covered by the terms and conditions of the Ocean Hotels Certified Agreement – 2010.
Staff accommodation and meals are available for a heavily subsidised fee.
Some roles may suit ferry commute to Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour.
Minimum loaded hourly rate $18.94 per hour plus Annual Leave, Leave Loading and Sick Leave.
